Freedom Prayer Ministry Overview

Holy smokes! Why am I now just finding out about "Freedom Prayer."  This is epic.

Having read the book and researched The Freedom Prayer model all week, it is clear to me that this is an effective model for facilitating Service member’s freedom from destructive behaviors. The Freedom Prayer model is made easy for implementing in operational and shore-based settings. This model contains all the fundamental principles observed in this phenomenological study on freedom from spiritual strongholds (i.e., confession and repentance amid gospel-centered community). With the Scriptures as the basis and commitment to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit, the Freedom Prayer model incorporates all the fundamental principles of successful recovery workshops.

In military speak, Freedom Prayer’s strategic goals are aligned with the DOD’s desired endstate to combat destructive behaviors in Service members. The Freedom Prayer ministry is a low cost, adaptable, evidence-based program for Service members in operational and shore-based settings. The operational goal of the participant's choice for life change is the desired “endstate;” the action steps (i.e., doing kingdom business) are the “ways,” and freedom prayer (i.e., the fruit loop) is the “means.”

The model can be led by a Spirit-filled believer. Additionally, it is highly recommended that if the unit chaplain wants to take the lead in facilitating Freedom prayer, that he or she be taken through the Freedom Prayer session before facilitating others. The author recommends that any deliverance ministry will be significantly hindered if the lead has not been through the process him or herself.

The significant takeaways that will be implemented into the dissertation final project will be the foundation of the lost and found parables of Luke 15 and a form of the “fruit loop.” Overall, the commitment to scriptural integrity and the Holy Spirit’s leading are non-negotiables that will be implemented in Freedom Vision.

I am excited to start implementing this model!
