In celebration of the last day of school, we went to McDonalds for a late night Ice Cream. Woo hoo! As I was standing off to the side waiting for my order I noticed a young man, local boy, build like a linebacker approach the register. The employee was a younger man, build of a cross country runner, shaggy hair and timid personality. The football player said in the most gentle/gracious voice, "Aloha bruddah. How you doing?" The cashier, replied, "good man. I just got my first paycheck...89 bucks. I'm so stoked...I got like 600 bucks cash now." "Good for you bra..."
Just like that... I thought to myself, I love this Island and the Aloha spirit. So relaxed and so humble. I had already placed my order, but didn't think as to why God would have me at McDonalds at 8pm. It's obvious now, to spread the Aloha of the gospel to the cashier. THAT is why I was there.
Is it possible that a trip to McDonalds is not merely just to fill the belly, but so that others might experience God through me, through the tone of my voice and through the gentleness of my spirit? I think so. Going out to eat is not just a task, but a gospel focused mission; that is, a worship experience.
