Jared Fired From Subway for Sinning...

Once again, it's time to address what has gone viral.  A man gets caught for a "heinous" thing and it goes viral. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if the majority of those bashing Jared or talking about him during dinner are those who claim "Christian." (I'm in no way trying to lesson the seriousness of the allegations. I'd just like to take this a little deeper than what comes naturally. Take a different perspective).

This is how we divert attention from our own sin and foolish decisions; namely, we rejoice that someone else is exposed so we can buy just a little more time in the dark. Because that makes us feel better - to be unknown. Those of us who have a operational conscience at least.

To all believers who forwarded the headlines or talked about this man behind his back, I'd just encourage you to ask God to reveal to you the root of your pride and rejoicing in others sin. It could be anything. Sin begets sin so it's just a matter of tracing it back to root causes. The heart of the issue is the issue of your heart.

Is child pornography or prostitution a sin? Yes. Absolutely, yes - And for us parents, just take a moment to breathe and let the peace of God comfort you knowing that NOTHING happens without His knowledge. May the peace of God comfort you knowing that God loves your children more that you do and he will protect them better that you can, although we out to do our diligence and put limits on their internet usage.

But way more important that viewing child pornography or engaging in prostitution is WHY that person did it. To inspect the "fruit" and not dig deep down to the "root" is to simply "mow over the weeds" and miss the deeper issue.

Idolatry could be at the root. What if someone believes making money is more important than God. Well, that's a twisted priority which is idolatrous. The root of idolatry, if kept in the dark only gains power over time and there is no telling what that little seed will manifest into. Stealing a candy bar to raping someone. You simply don't know. Which is why every believer should be living in covenant community (ie a local church body) with people confessing sins and doing life together in Jesus Christ. We must be constantly uprooting (ie exposing) evil in our lives (Ephesians 5).

He who makes the most noise about this mans sins is probably the deepest in his own mess. He just hasn't been exposed yet...

So it's your turn. What does God want you to expose today. And to whom. The longer it is keep secret the more power that root will grow and manifest into something that damages lives for generations to come.

Thank God the grace of God covers that too.
